We’ve been a little quiet on here recently, but don’t worry – it’s been all a-buzz at Honeybirds HQ as we prepare for a very exciting few weeks of singing!
We’ve been working on lots of new tunes and have gotten to grips with all those AMAZING Andrews Sisters harmonies – my, they were talented ladies!
On April 28th, we did our very first busk in Leeds City Centre. Armed with postcards, CDs and wrapped up nice and warm, we met lots of lovely people who enjoyed our singing. The lovelyLeeds University Swing Society dancers came and Lindy Hopped to our music (Tessa even got a dance too!) and the wonderful Julian Dyer took some beautiful photos for us. (Click HERE to see them all!)
He also took some footage of us singing too – just listen to that wind! You’ll not be surprised to hear that one of us had ‘hand-warmers’ hidden in her pockets!
Next weekend (May 17th – 19th) sees the return of Haworth 1940s weekend, and we are delighted to be returning to sing for the visitors; not least as it marks a full year of The Honeybirds existence! Haworth was our debut performance last year, and we can’t wait to go back and sing again.
We will be performing on both the Saturday and Sunday, starting at 11am.
As a ‘warm-up’ (we hope it’ll be warm!) we’ll be busking again in Leeds on Friday May 17th in the new Trinity shopping complex, 11:30 – 3:30 and then to top our weekend off, we’ll be performing with a LIVE BAND at the City Vaults in Bradford on the Sunday evening, 8:30pm.
We hope we’ll see you at an event soon, and please do get in touch – we like hearing from you!
